The Society has recently
begun restoration of the Peter Grim Homestead, which was the
miller's residence built in 1834. In October 1999, this building was
also placed on the National Register of Historical Sites.
Restoration plans are to reflect a typical 1830s era home. Currently
the genealogical library as well as the Society's office
headquarters are located in the home.
Restoration will be
done with financial assistance and grants from private, local, and
state resources along with fundraising events and public
contributions. Through the efforts of Pa. Senator Charles Dent and
Pa. State Representative Julie Harhart the Society was awarded a
$10,000 DCED grant for the restoration and preservation of the
homestead's windows.
