The Lehigh County Historical Society is one of the largest historical societies in America. Our new 30,000 square foot headquarters museum The Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum is a state-of-the-art climate-controlled facility that houses one of the finest historical research libraries in the state of Pennsylvania. The Heritage Museum includes 4 galleries with more than 10,000 square feet of exhibits.

The D&L Corridor works as a convener, coordinator and catalyst to help focus available resources on highly visible collective programs that advance the Corridor's mission which is to conserve cultural and natural resources in the five-county region of Pennsylvania that traverses the historic Delaware and Lehigh Canals.

The Log Cabin Trail Field Guide, regarding 22 historic log buildings in Lehigh County, has been developed as a historic and educational resource. It includes descriptions of and directions to each cabin. It is a valuable tool for educators, students, historians, history buffs and anyone interested in learning about the part these log homes / structures played in our county's history.

The former Ironton Railroad has been transformed to provide a safe, year-round recreational opportunity for local residents and visitors. The 9.2 mile trail follows the Coplay Creek eastward from North Whitehall through the 110 acre Whitehall Parkway to where the creek flows into the Lehigh River. The wide, flat, gentle grade of the trail combined with easy access provides an outdoor recreation opportunity for people of all ages and physical abilities.

HCPA traces its beginning to 1983 when a small group of residents banded together to prepare applications for the establishment of two national historic districts in the Borough of Catasauqua (Lehigh County, Pennsylvania): the Biery's Port historic district and the Mansion district. HCPA, now over 300 members strong, remains active in the community via events, including speakers, home and garden tours and restoration efforts, that highlight Catasauqua's rich history. The organization's headquarters is located in the 1826 Biery House.

This Civil War reenactment organization presents the annual Lehigh Valley Civil War Days (Camp Geiger) weekend, in the Whitehall Parkway, in mid june. See hundreds of military and civilian reeenactors in battle action and other demonstratons. Learn about the Civil War period, including local soldiers/units, and efforts related to preserving history of that era.
